Urban beekeeping has been practised for decades now, and the establishment of beehives on rooftops has met with great enthusiasm.
Bees play a very important role in maintaining biodiversity through their pollination activities. It’s important for Meanquest to take part in a project to save bees, and to become a player, on our own scale, in a strong environmental initiative.
Since the beginning of this year, we’ve been proud to sponsor a beehive in the gardens of our premises at Le Hive in Meyrin.
💡 Did you know that the urban environment is good for bees?
💡 70% of our agriculture depends on pollination
By sponsoring an apiary, Meanquest is helping to protect bees and support beekeeping.
Bees are responsible for the reproduction of over 80% of plant species. Three quarters of fruit and vegetable crops depend on pollination.
The Bees4You association will take care of our bees on a daily basis. This partnership also offers an educational and awareness-raising dimension that is very important to us, since themed workshops on bees will be organized in collaboration with members of the association.
A look back at our workshop on Thursday, September 1
Beekeeping is an activity that depends heavily on the weather… we learned this the hard way during this workshop. Last night’s stormy weather in Meyrin prevented us from discovering life inside our hive at The hive in Meyrin.
Even so, we had the chance to familiarize ourselves with the world of bees with a fascinating talk by Nicolas from the Bees4You Association, followed by a tasting of different honeys.
In the meantime, we’re looking forward to discovering our honey. We’d like to thank the Bees4You beekeepers for looking after our apiary on a daily basis.
